1. What do military-spouse hires bring to your company that you like? Military spouses come from a multitude of diverse backgrounds and offer a wealth of different perspectives. Also, many recruiters and HR managers find military spouses have a good understanding of the job-search process and are willing to be flexible regarding hours, full-time/part-time status, salary or the type of work available.
3. What are the most common mistakes you see on military-spouse résumés? The most common mistake is certainly not taking the time to complete the “job history” and “duties” sections on an application. Because The Home Depot requires the completion of an online application, many either do not see the need to be as thorough as with a paper résumé, as accurate, or do not find the space to be as adequate as they would like to list their previous duties. Applicants should exercise attention to detail and fill out as much as possible, as accurately as they can.
