Brigid Brannagh Interview – Page 5

How have the people of Charleston reacted to having “Army Wives” filmed in the city?

In general, Charleston has been really happy to have us here, and we have done our best to participate in the community in a positive way whenever they have asked. We’ve gone to the mayor’s charity function and we’ve donated stuff to auction off. Whenever we can, we try to support Charleston, because we are very grateful that they let us be here. Originally, they had a tax break for films coming through and then they stopped that. We’ve been fortunate that we’ve been able to stay because even though they stopped the tax break, they continued to extend it to us. We are very grateful, because it is such a nice place to be. If you are going to be working away from home, you can’t beat Charleston.Brigid-Brannagh3

Many Military Spouse Magazine readers are fans of the show. Is there anything you would like to say to them about how the show is portraying their lives?

More than anything, I would like all military families, and especially the wives, to know that each and every one of them that I have met, and every story that I have heard about them if we haven’t met, I have never laughed so hard. They have made me laugh and literally made me cry in such a short amount of time that I have been able to have a better understanding of them. They literally have been some of the funniest, and some of the smartest, and some of the greatest women I have ever met. I am grateful to be invited to know them. It’s an honor.

Can we expect any new twists and turns in season three of “Army Wives”?

Yes, but I don’t know that they will allow me to say any of them, said Brannagh, who admitted to not even telling her father about the upcoming season for fear he would inadvertently spread the news.

Fast Facts:

FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND FREE TIME: “Unlike Pamela (her character on “Army Wives”), I love to cook and to entertain,” Brannagh said. “I grew up hosting, so any random week I’ll have anywhere from three to 20 people at my house for wining and dining.”

CHILDHOOD: Born and raised in San Francisco, Brannagh is one of nine children.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Brannagh’s husband, Justin Lyons, is a singer/song writer whose songs “California Groove” and “American Background” have been heard on “Army Wives” episodes.

WHAT IS PLAYING ON HER IPOD: “Justin Lyons – I always have his stuff - as well as a mix of other styles,” Brannagh said. “I also like blues, R&B, Percy Sledge’s ‘When a Man Loves a Woman,’ and a lot of ‘80s music. I’m very much a product of the Eighties, but I also love Plain White T’s, Amy Winehouse, and some country.”
